Strands of black pearls
Like plastic jewelry
A seven year-old might flaunt
With filched mother's makeup
But they were underwater
Wept form high stone.

I felt them,
Slimy

Startled.

Not pearls at all.

Diseased?

Terrorist?

The shock of a small male frog
Atop a large female frog
Their double bodies
Extruding an apparent necklace of eggs.
