Iceland packs glaciers, volcanoes, waterfalls and black-sand beaches into a small island, and this seven-day route strings together the highlights of the south coast and the Snæfellsnes Peninsula.
You'll start and end in Reykjavík, circle the Golden Circle, follow the coast east to Jökulsárlón and the Vatnajökull glaciers, then loop back to the volcanic Reykjanes Peninsula.
A full Ring Road loop needs roughly eight to ten days; this shorter plan deliberately skips the long eastern fjords and the northern drive so you spend more time at each stop instead of behind the wheel.
Start in the capital with the Hallgrímskirkja church tower for a view over the colourful rooftops, then walk down to the Harpa concert hall on the old harbour.

A century-old outdoor pool tucked in a valley near Eyjafjallajökull; a short walk brings you to lukewarm water and mountain views. Take a towel and leave no trace.
Friðheimar tomato farm
A greenhouse restaurant near Flúðir on the Golden Circle where you eat tomato soup among growing vines, powered by geothermal heat. Booking is recommended.
DC-3 plane wreck on Sólheimasandur
A US Navy Dakota that crash-landed on the black sand in 1973; it's about a 45-minute flat walk each way from the parking area, so allow time and check access.
