We help travelers plan confident, realistic trips without paywalls or signup friction. Whether you need a full day-by-day route for Japan or quick French phrases before landing in Paris, our goal is practical information you can use immediately.

The site is built and maintained by a small team of travel enthusiasts and engineers who believe good trip planning should be accessible to everyone—not only people who can afford premium apps or travel agents.

What we publish

Wandering Hermit offers three types of content, all free to use:

• Curated itineraries for 11 destinations across Europe and Asia, with day-by-day activities, dining ideas, and travel tips.
• An AI trip planner on the homepage that builds custom routes from your destinations, trip length, and travel style.
• Downloadable language guides for French, German, Spanish, and Portuguese, plus in-depth travel articles in our Guides section.

How itineraries are created

Popular destination guides are researched and written by our editorial team, then reviewed for pacing, geography, and seasonal realism. They are not automatically scraped from other websites.

When you use the AI planner, OpenAI generates a draft itinerary from your inputs. We structure that output for readability on our site and in email, but you should always verify train times, opening hours, and prices before booking.

Editorial standards

We prioritize accuracy, clarity, and respect for local cultures. We update guides when major attractions change hours, when new transport options appear, or when readers report outdated details.

We do not accept payment to rank destinations higher or to recommend specific hotels. Affiliate links, if added in the future, will be clearly disclosed.
